Biography - Alis Rocca
I have a passion for physical and mental health and wellbeing, connected to personal and organisational leadership development. I have created a holistic approach to achieving this through a combination of coaching, leadership training, yoga, meditation and mindfulness techniques. I am a qualified life and performance coach having studied with Performance Consultants International, co-founded by Sir John Whitmore who was the originator of the G.R.O.W model for transformational coaching.
I have worked in the education sector for over 20 years as a teacher, senior leader, Head Teacher, and Education Consultant. I gained an NPQH (National Professional Qualification for Headship) in 2009, and regularly present and coach on the specialist NPQs, NPQSL and NPQH training for aspiring school leaders. I am lead facilitator for the Early Headship Coaching Offer for Best Practice which supports those leaders new to Headship.
I have a Masters Degree in Leadership from Cambridge University and have supported organisations in the UK and internationally to develop leadership strategies that are transformative and which engage all levels of the organisation, leading to more effective outcomes. I am a director for the academic charity HertsCam which offers leadership programmes for schools and other organisations both in the UK and across the world. I have taught on the Masters for Leadership program for HertsCam and have supervised students offering guidance and support as well as marking essays and dissertations.
I have completed the Leaders for Impact training with the Royal Opera House, London thus widening my leadership reach and understanding across the Arts and Culture sector.
I am on the creative team of the children’s mental health charity Nip in the Bud. As such I offer education consultancy, write and produce fact sheets and resources, deliver training, and present films and podcasts that offer advice and information. Our vision is to help parents, professionals and young people recognise and respond to mental health issues early on, especially related to neurodiversity, so that appropriate intervention can ‘nip in the bud’ concerns and challenges.
As well as this, I have worked within the fitness industry for over 25 years as a fitness instructor, life coach, and yoga teacher, working with both groups and individuals, face-to-face and online. I am a qualified Yoga teacher having completed my Yoga Alliance Certified 200hr YTT in Vinyasa and Yin Yoga and meditation in Bali. I am a qualified Pilates instructor, having studied with Michael King, the founder and director of the Pilates Institute UK. I also have a wealth of knowledge and further training in a variety of fitness styles, indoor cycling, mindfulness meditation, and parenting strategies.
Biography - Daniella Rocca
I have grown up alongside my mum on her mat, doing yoga and meditation and learning about and the significance of mindfulness before I even knew what it really was! Over the years I have developed my own practice, becoming more and more aware of the importance of keeping my wellbeing in balance. My passion for fitness and exercise grew alongside all things Yoga and Mindfulness, and I began to really enjoy sharing this with those around me. I completed my Yoga Alliance Certified 200hr YTT in Vinyasa and Yin Yoga and meditation in Bali, and became a qualified Yoga teacher. Immediately I began to teach in my University where I worked with students on creating their own daily practice to maintain good mental health and wellbeing. As co-founder of Arise Wellbeing, I strive to help others by sharing the knowledge I have and encouraging them to delve deeper into their own practice.
I am a Musical Theatre performer and this goes hand in hand with my yogi life! I have always used Yoga to help centre my energy and become more grounded before and during performing. I have used my daily physical yoga practice to keep my body fit and healthy and I have used mindfulness and meditation to help me to control anxiety and nerves.
Likewise, my musical theatre training and performing career constantly helps me with all things to do with yoga. I use singing in my yoga practice with mantras and yogic chants. This helps connect us to our inner guru, awakening our spiritual consciousness within. I love to sing a chant at the end of classes with students joining in. This helps to seal the session and bring a smile to our faces! I have also trained in The Feldenkrais Method which I use with students. This method helps us recognise the importance of the connection between the mind and body in order to improve our bodily movement and psychological state. From my singing training, I have become more and more fascinated in how singing can help better the lives of those who struggle with mental health issues. I have done a research project and dissertation into this topic, and I continue to study and train further in this field whilst seeing the benefits in real life with those I work with.
I am highly passionate about working with children, after spending the past 5 years volunteering in primary schools, working with children from all backgrounds and realms of life and directing primary school performances. I have a thirst to use my knowledge and background in both performing and Yoga in order to create better lives for children struggling with mental health issues and I thoroughly enjoy fusing together Yoga, singing, dance and movement in order to do so!
