Practice any of the following styles with us.

All classes are designed to complement your needs and aspirations and can be delivered online, at home or in the corporate environment.

Vinyasa Yoga

Vinyasa Yoga is so called because of the way the postures flow from one to another. Each move is linked to the breath and the breath helps the body flow through the moves energetically. During Vinyasa yoga we string together postures moving seamlessly from one into another. Sequences vary in pace and intensity as we work through the whole body building heat until our final relaxing posture, Savasana, where we marinate in all the nourishing energy that we have created. Vinyasa yoga does not always follow a set pattern so can differ each time, this helps maintain balance in the body using all the muscles in strengthening and stretching postures reducing the risk of injury.

Hatha Yoga

The difference between Hatha and Vinyasa yoga practice is that where Vinyasa builds heat through the movements and sequences, Hatha is designed to work at a slower pace, holding strong postures within moments of stillness. We are still building strength but finding that strength within the steady posture taking the time to consider closely each muscle we use and each careful position of our frame. We work to align the mind with the body and the spirit in Hatha yoga classes, readying the client for meditation and reflective contemplation.

Yin Yoga

Yin yoga is a slow form of yoga holding poses for up to 5 or 6 minutes long. In Yin yoga we work with a cool body to target the deep connective tissues and fascia within and throughout the body in order to open up the joints for increased mobility and flexibility. We find the ‘Goldilocks position", that sweet spot where we feel challenge but no pain and where we can apply a static stress on ligaments, bones, joints and fascia sheets. Once here, we use affirmations or moments of quiet to still the thoughts and calm the mind leading to a greater sense of wellbeing.

Restorative Yoga

Prepare yourself for a deeply relaxing class with this style of yoga. You will not be generating heat, but will be holding still poses for up to 10 minutes at a time using a variety of props to support you such as blankets, pillows, blocks, the wall and bolsters. A very special feeling is arrived at when your body is totally supported in this way and muscles can deeply relax. A Restorative yoga practice is crafted to promote the stretching of your muscles and the relaxation of your mind. Research has shown that Restorative yoga can improve symptoms of pain, anxiety and depression and like Yin yoga leads to a greater sense of wellbeing and peace.

Yoga Nidra and Meditation

Yoga Nidra is known as ‘deep sleep’, it is meditation maintaining a conscious awareness. Yoga Nidra is a guided full-body relaxation meditation which gradually induces a deep, meditative state in the client. We begin the class with a few basic movements and restorative poses designed to release any tension or stiffness. This is followed by a short pranayama (breath work) exercise and leads on to the guided Yoga Nidra meditation, where the teacher will encourage the client to learn how to rotate their awareness around the body, watch the breath, notice opposites in the body, focus on visualisations and end with free flow. Yoga Nidra is a beautiful meditation that will leave you feeling calm, happy and rested.

Testimonials

Having practiced both Vinyasa and Yin with Alis, I feel confident in saying she is one of the best Yoga teachers I have had the pleasure of being taught by. Her classes are not only engaging and inspiring but I always leave feeling as if I’ve had a full-body stretch, a work out and a mindful experience where I have got to know my body and myself a bit more!

I would highly recommend Alis as a Yoga teacher. Both in groups and one to one sessions she has made me feel so comfortable and at ease in her sessions. No matter how I arrive at her sessions I always leave feeling a lot more at peace, calm and my body invigorated for the rest of the day.

Yoga with Alis is the highlight of my week. An hour of pure bliss - her calming and peaceful nature makes every class a pure delight to be a part of. From the moment you step through the door, she makes you feel relaxed and welcome. Her classes are suitable for all levels and are inclusive for those who (like me!) were completely new to the yoga scene.
